Free Trees To Celebrate The Platinum Jubilee
Community councils are being invited to apply to the Woodland Trust for free trees which can be planted on their local area as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC), an initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022.
Any trees planted from October 2021 to the end of the Jubilee year in 2022 can be designated part of the Queen’s Green Canopy, which will create a network of individual trees, avenues, copses and whole woodlands in honour of The Queen's service and the legacy she has built.
This will also create a green legacy of its own, with every tree planted bringing benefits for people, wildlife and climate, now and for the future.
Individuals and organisations, including community councils, can apply to the Woodland Trust for free saplings, which will be delivered to applicants ready to plant. The charity has three million saplings available as part the Queen’s Green Canopy, which will be supplied on a first come, first served basis.
