Community Grant Scheme Seeks Local Projects
The Garioch Partnership is issuing a reminder that funds are still available to assist Garioch based community projects.
The Community Initiative Grant is The Garioch Partnership’s small grants scheme, supported by Aberdeenshire Council’s Garioch Area Committee. The fund has been allocated £5000 for distribution in the 2020/2021 year.
The scheme is open to any constituted not-for-profit community group or community run organisation in the Garioch area, with grants of up to £750 available.
Consideration will be given to projects that make a difference to the local community, are of long-term benefit and improve the quality of life of local people. This could include the requirement for funding towards start-up costs, equipment, training, marketing and improvements to community facilities.
Applications are reviewed by a Grants Panel, made up of local volunteers, who assess the requests and make recommendations to the Board of The Garioch Partnership.
While the schemes are primarily aimed at community groups with a turnover of less than £25k per annum, in exceptional circumstances an award may be made to groups with a turnover greater than £25k, if The Garioch Partnership Board feels the award will benefit the Garioch community.
Dawn Brown, Development Worker at The Garioch Partnership commented, “The Community Initiative Grant scheme is usually fully subscribed by now, however due to the implications of Covid and lockdown, many groups have not been operational for lengthy periods or have postponed their plans for starting or developing local community projects. This means there is still money available to support the great work of our local community groups as they begin to reconvene in the months ahead. We are really keen that these funds are utilised to the benefit of the local Garioch community and its people.”
