Our Current Board of Trustees
John Chapman – Chairman
John is a former IT Project Manager who dealt with various external customers for BT where he worked for over 34 years. John has been involved in Community Groups since 1980 as an Assistant Scout Leader; a founding member of Inverurie Hockey Club; District and National Hockey Official, Umpire and Coach; and Chairman of the Garioch Sports Trust for over 16 years. John has assisted in projects with other community groups in and around Inverurie including Inverurie Community Development Group and now The Garioch Partnership. John is married with twin daughters. He still enjoys playing hockey (although getting long in the tooth and short of breath), music and most other sports, but best of all, a beer and chat with friends, new and old.[/et_pb_text]
Marion Chapman – Treasurer
Marion is originally from Irvine in Ayrshire and moved to Aberdeenshire with her parents in 1981. She now lives in Inverurie since her marriage in 1988. She has twin daughters. Since leaving school Marion has worked in administration for a variety of companies including GL Electronics, BP and Inverurie Hospital. She moved to her current position at St Andrew’s Parish Church in 1998. Marion is an Elder at St Andrew’s Parish Church and is actively committed to her church as Treasurer, having previously served as Clerk to the Congregational Board. She is treasurer for Buzz (formerly Garioch Musical Society) and the youth Group GYMS. She is also a loyal supporter of Barnardo’s having served on the local fundraising committee for a number of years. Marion is interested in music, and musical theatre, cross stitch and cooking, and very much enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
Nom Wright lives in Insch and has various connections to local groups, including Insch Community Association, Inspiring Insch and Bennachie Leisure Centre, where he has held a variety of office bearer roles. He is also a local representative on the Garioch and North Marr Community Safety Group and the Central Aberdeenshire ADP [Alcohol and Drugs Partnership]. Nom had prior knowledge of the Partnership having worked with us on the Inside Insch project which resulted in a local Community Action Plan. His daytime role sees him working with a variety of communities in the Garioch area as Community Waste officer for the area. He finds that having links to communities via personal interests is of benefit to his day time role. He believes networking is the key to effective communities; “Dinnae need tae ken athing – ye jist need tae ken the richt fowk in the richt places”. He firmly believes that each community has the capacity to change things that matter to them, they just need to harness all available skills and have a cohesive approach.
